Double-stitching is doubly secure

I am making a custom sandal for a women with greatly swollen legs. I'm not positive that the band over her foot will fit her properly, so I am trying to make it as simple as possible to change the length of the band if she tries it on and sees that changes need to be made. Instead of cementing both ends of the band under the topsole, I cemented a strip under the topsole on the inside of the sandal, with stitch holes punched along it. I punched matching holes to the end of the band, then stitched the band end to the strip. The reason I'm writing this post is because I thought that stitching the band to the strip in my usual way didn't provide sufficient strength to the band, so I thought I would try punching two rows of holes in the end of the band, as seen in this photo. I had seen this technique used on moccasins and will use it again since the bond felt "doubly secure".
